Sophie C and Sophie V teamed up to create Clevedon Physiotherapy to provide top-quality, bespoke physiotherapy services to our local and wider community. We treat a range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, pelvic floor, persistent pain, ACC, private, sports, oncological, and post-surgical conditions.
We have a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, providing up-to-date assessment and management techniques/strategies. We aim to not just get you back to where you were, but to help you to be even better, by building on your knowledge-base and personal resilience.
We are unique in that we provide longer appointment times in order to provide thorough assessment and individualised management plans that centre around you, the client. We pride ourselves on taking the time to really understand you and provide a collaborative management plan tailored to suit your needs.
We provide physiotherapy services at three sites across the Clevedon, Auckland area. This ensures we are meeting the needs of our community, as our clinics each provide a unique opportunity for clients receiving physiotherapy.
For those needing a little extra, an onsite gym at our West Road Clinic features a variety of equipment to help you on your road to recovery and greater physical performance. Our home clinic and onsite gym are set in stunning bush surrounds, looking across the valley to the Hunua Ranges.
Sophie V graduated from the University of Otago in 2014 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. More recently, she has graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy), with Distinction.
Sophie has worked within public and private practice settings throughout her career which has given her a wide variety of experience, knowledge, and skills. She has experience working with individuals with overuse injuries, persistent pain, and post-operative orthopaedic and oncological conditions.
Given Sophie’s sporting and academic background, she has a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and exercise therapy. She is also passionate about a holistic and patient-centred approach to achieving the best outcomes, including manual therapy as an adjunct to facilitate the return to function.
Sophie continues to work two days per week in the public sector, as she finds this rewarding and challenging work provides balance and keeps her clinical skills sharp, while working with some of the best musculoskeletal physiotherapists in New Zealand.
Sophie moved to Clevedon in 2021 and has thoroughly enjoyed becoming a part of the local community and learning about Clevedon’s history. You will often find her walking or running her dog around the local tracks or popping in for a coffee at the local café’s.
-Sadly, Sophie C has moved to Christchurch with her family. We wish her all the best!-
Sophie graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2016 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy). She has since completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne. She is also a PINC Practitioner, treating women with the effects of cancer and treatments. Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, she had a colourful career as an army medic, gaining a skill set that serves her well to this day; from basic first aid to a broader understanding of medical conditions and pharmacology.
Sophie has worked in a combination of musculoskeletal private practice, aged care, women’s health, persistent pain and the the public healthcare system.
Her particular areas of interest are helping women and men with pelvic floor dysfunction, persistent pain, and treating endurance athletes. Her treatments are evidence- and exercise-based, using manual therapy as an adjunct to help facilitate improvement. All treatment plans are tailored specifically to the individual client.
In her spare time, you’ll find her running around after her two young sons, walking the Hunua ranges for a moment of peace and trying to squeeze in a run when she gets the opportunity.
